tvOS UI UX

Technology trends are getting harder and harder to follow. We started off with big phones that gradually became smaller, and now, devices are bigger than ever. The same principle applies to TVs, as the curved screens become more popular by the day once again. The only difference is that now, that curve is in the opposite direction than before. Apart from that, TVs also became smart devices, allowing users to access a multitude of apps directly, and even browse the web. This technology is still undeveloped, and it will take some time for it to catch up.

The best solution could be found in digital consoles, small devices which pack one hell of a punch. Apple is always trying to be one step ahead of the competition, and just a little over a month ago, they announced the release of the 4th generation Apple TV. The advantages are obvious. With a bigger screen, you can fit more information, and they will be presented to users across the beautifully designed and crisp TV displays. You might wonder what are the apps that best use these advantages. You’ll find the answers in the list below.

Apps That Use Apple TV In The Best Possible Way

Before we start, we must point out that this list contains apps that are not sorted in any particular order. They are just able to use Apple TV to the fullest of its potential.

Netflix

It’s the obvious choice. Honestly, it is quite difficult to say something bad about this awesome on-demand video providing app. With the development of smart TVs, Netflix quickly became a must have, so Apple had to include it in the package. It offers a boatload of movies and TV Shows in high definition, that will look great in any home. Only make sure you have a strong internet connection, because if you don’t, it won’t work properly.

The app is constantly being updated with new content, so that users wouldn’t have to wait to have their favorite shows one click of a button away. It is not expensive either, as monthly subscription will set you back only about $8. Too bad it is currently limited to North and South America, Caribbean and some major European countries.

7 Minute TV Workout

If you are an Apple user that looks after your fitness levels, you’ve probably already tried a bunch of workout apps. They work perfectly fine on other devices, but are best suited for a big TV screen. You won’t have to go to the gym any longer, as your personal trainer will be right in front of you, whenever you want to. You can save a lot of money this way, as you won't need any other equipment and you’ll still look as good as ever. This app offers 12 different exercises, developed specifically for home training. Each of them is described in detail, with provided voice guidance, timers and a fitness model demonstrating how it should be done properly. Music of your choice can be played in the background, just to keep you motivated. A calendar is also provided to follow progress and remain on track.

Kitchen Stories

Those of you that have a TV in the kitchen, or an open plan living room will love this app. You’ve probably heard of Kitchen Stories, as it’s been around for quite some time now, and it had some awesome reviews. Still, Apple TV is taking things to another level. The sheer size of the TV screen plays the key role here, as users won’t have to slide up and down to find out how the whole recipe looks like. You won’t have to clean your device after you’ve done cooking, it will be safely out of reach at any given time. Bigger screen size also allows for video material to be placed on the same page, so it will make any chef’s life easier, and dishes tastier. Video instructions can be paused at any time, and played back as many times as you like. Cooking has never seemed easier.

Touchpress

There are a bunch of apps that stream media, but Touchpress has the classiest of them all. These app developers from London always create premium apps that maximize the potential of each device, and Apple TV is no different. Over the years, they created a lot of apps that were highly praised. By installing some of their products, you are bound to have a whole lot of fun. And it’s not only because you can stream classical music to your living room whenever you want to, it is because of the unique user experience it provides. Users are able to stream multiple video at the same time, and jump between them whenever they desire. It is very easy to use with a card system and previews available for each section.

Sing! Karaoke by Smule

Is there a better way to have fun with your friends than having a sing-off contest? This app enables you to do this right from your living room, you won’t even have to leave the couch. You can perform as a duet with a help from a friend, or even go global and connect with someone from across the globe. Special microphones aren’t needed, as the app can be downloaded to the iPhone, and two people can sing simultaneously. Songs can be added to queue while your friends are performing. This allows a constant flow as the next song will start as soon as the current one ends. There are currently around 100,000 songs in the music library, but this number keeps on growing. Download it while it’s still free.

Alto’s Adventure

Finally a game to finish the list. If it looked great on your iPhone, there is no reason why it shouldn’t do the same on the bigger screen of your TV. The controls are simple, and the Apple remote is more than enough to provide the perfect gaming experience. Users were originally giving high praise to game designers, but once they started playing it on big TV screens, they fell completely in love with it. Those snowy slopes never looked as good. It is relatively inexpensive, but at least you won’t have to look at those annoying pop-up adverts. However, if you already have it installed on your other Apple devices, you’ll be able to download it for free from the app store. We would most certainly recommend this to all users.
